Bimini & Berry Islands, Bahamas
View Original Description
Just 50 miles (80km) from the Florida Coast, Bimini (2 main islands and some small cays) are the closest Bahamian islands to the USA and boast wide expanses of pristine beaches. Having the reputation as one of Ernest Hemingway’s favorite escapes with a storied past that includes rum-running and pirates has placed Bimini at the top of many sailors’ must-visit locations.
The Berry Islands is a cluster of 30 cays southeast of Bimini in an area of the Caribbean Sea known as “The Fish Bowl of the Bahamas”. Many of the islands are privately owned and residences for some of the world’s richest people. However, there are plenty of unspoiled beaches and bays rich in their own right with snorkeling and diving opportunities.
