Sea Kayak Milos Island, Greece

The island of Milos, Greece with its varied coastline and Milos Harbor has a kayaking adventure to suit just about anyone’s needs and everyone’s skill level. In fact, Milos is the sea kayaking center of Greece. That doesn’t mean visitors can’t kayak at other islands. It’s actually possible to kayak to another island from Milos. Those planning on doing that should plan where they want to go especially if they plan on spending the night. Getting to Milos requires getting a flight from Athens or taking a ferry, so plan to stay a few days. The beautiful blue Mediterranean waters are relatively calm to paddle and the best time for a kayaking trip is April through the end of October. Other islands aside, there are plenty of places to explore by kayak on Milos. On the West Coast of Milos, there’s Cape Mavros Kavos for those who want to kayak through a sea cave created along a fault line. On the North Coast kayak over to Glaronisia, where a group of three small islands made of volcanic rock are home to flocks of seagulls, and have some lunch on the shore. For more advanced kayakers consider rounding Cape Spahti where there’s plenty of wind, waves, and sunshine.
