See a SpaceX Twilight Phenomena Launch

When SpaceX conducts launches near sunset itcreate a visually spectacular events known as launch contrails or "twilight phenomena," where the rocket exhaust is illuminated by sunlight at high altitudes, appearing as glowing, cloud-like streaks against the dark sky for viewers on the ground. These sunset launches are not a result of failed launches but a natural optical effect that occurs because the sunlight's angle at high altitudes reflects off the exhaust particles, making them visible even after darkness has fallen on the surface. These launches, often featuring theFalcon 9 rocket, frequently deploy Starlink satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California and are widely photographed and shared on social media. Usually best 30-45 minutes after a launch. Vandemberg Rocket Launches Facebook Group usually has good update to date information on these launches, pplus a lot of great videos and photos pf past laucnhes. A great spot in Coronado to get a photo is along the Coronado Beach breakwater at the Ocean Blvd and Marina Av beach entrance. This shot gets the beach, palm tree and Pt Loma in the shot.
