Baishui Terrace (Baishuitai), China
View Original Description
Baishui Terrace Baishuitai ("White Water Terrace") is an area where spring water flows over a sinter terrace, leaving behind travertine. The terraces of Baishui are creamy white and sometimes streaked yellowish brown. The pools are about ten miles north of Lijiang, China.
The pools of water in the shallow basins are blue-tinted due to reflected sunlight.
Baishuitai is the name of a village between Lijiang and Xianggelila (formerly Zhongdian) in north-western Yunnan province, China. Located slightly north of Haba near the upper Yangtze river valley, it is noted for its natural mineral terraces.
