Berlin Wall Segments in Teltow, Germany
View Original Description
Sections of the Berlin Wall can be found in Teltow, a town 11 miles from the center of Berlin. In the early 1990s, a concrete plant bought sections of the Berlin Wall with the intention of storing them on site and perhaps eventually using them as materials. Teltow officials invited artists to paint the barren concrete slabs, hoping to create a public, open-air art installation similar to East Side Gallery in Berlin. The artwork shown is not original—it was painted after the fall of the wall, by various artists. Interested parties can still apply to paint, and sell, portions of the wall.
