Big Balanced Rock is one of the most famous rocks in monument, and it is located near the Heart of Rocks Loop. To see this balancing rock in person, be prepared for a strenuous hike of at least 7.3 miles (~12 kilometers) round trip. Bring plenty of food, water, appropriate clothing, and a map.
The 1-mile Big Balanced rock trail follows along the southern mesa of Chiricahua National Monument and is fairly level with only 250 feet of elevation change. The Balanced Rock Trail ends at the Heart of Rocks Trail junction and the Sarah Deming Trail.
