Bridge of Sighs (Marble Canyon), Arizona

Ellsworth and Emery Kolb named the Bridge of Sighs on their 1911-1912 river trip. He may have named the bridge after one by the same name in Italy. The easiest way to see this bridge is from river level. This is one of the few Grand Canyon arches visible from the river.
Located at Colorado River Mile 35.7: The "Bridge of Sighs" and three large alcoves in the Redwall Limestone on the north side of the Colorado River in Marble Canyon. Cavernous opening in the Redwall Limestone formed by groundwater solution along intersecting joint sets in the limestone
