See Checkerboard Mesa, Zion National Park, Utah
Checkerboard Mesa is a colorful display of orange, brown and white slickrock that is one of Zion National Park landmarks. The unusual crack pattern in the sandstone hills resemble a grid much like you would see on a checkerboard. It's located at the eastern entrance to the park alonh Route 9. There is a parking area for a few cars to stop and get pictures.
