The musical tells the tale of Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart both on trial for murder, who use fame and publicity to keep them from hanging in 1920s Chicago. Before there was the Academy Award winning movie starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Renee Zellweger, there was the musical on Broadway. In fact, the show is so popular it’s one of the longest-running American musicals in Broadway history. Every year it attracts new celebrities from TV, film, and stage to play one of the starring roles.
