The Cortijo del Fraile is a building located southeast of Níjar (Almería), within the Cabo de Gata-Níjar natural park, it has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest with the typology of Historic Site. The closest towns are Los Albaricoques and Rodalquilar . In its vicinity, the event known as the "Nijar crime" took place on July 22, 1928, which inspired the verse drama by Federico García Lorca entitled Blood Wedding.
The farmhouse and its surroundings have been used for different film shoots such as The Good, the Ugly and the Bad , Death had a price , I am the Revolution and Giù la testa . Some television series have also been recorded on it, such as the end of the sixth season of Los Hombres de Paco.
It is located on a 730-hectare farm and other smaller farmhouses located in the vicinity depended on it, such as La Felipa and the Requena farmhouse . On March 23, 2010, a resolution was published in the Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía by which the Cortijo del Fraile was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest with the typology of Historic Site. The trademark «el cortijo del fraile» was registered and protected with industrial property rights at the OEPM under registration numbers N0277626 and M2856874.
