See Coyote Wells Trains, California

Coyote Wells is an unincorporated community in Imperial County, California. It is located on the San Diego and Arizona Eastern Railway (Impossible Railroad line) 24 miles (39 km) west of El Centro, at an elevation of 299 feet (91 m). On an unused stretch of track that is the eastern end of the old Desert Line. The owners of Pacific Imperial Railroad (PIR) took $450,000 of investors' money and bought three locomotives from Idaho, Northern, and Pacific Railroad and had them towed there, where they've sat ever since. The only problem with them is: they don't work. It was reported that these locomotives had the wrong gear ratio for climbing the grades on the Desert line. The Pacific Imperial Railroad leadership collapsed in 2015 amid revelations of fraud and the discovery of several shell corporations setup by the management. At the site are the STBX 4504, STBX 4501 and STBX 4500 locomotives as well as a damaged center-beam lumber car plus other abandoned stuff.
