See Crystal Cave in Svínafellsjökull Glacier, Iceland

The Crystal Cave located in Svínafellsjökull glacier in Vatnajökull National Park emerged as a result of its glacier meeting the Icelandic coastline where the preasure has compressed all air out of the ice adding to the texture and colour of the cave. The cave is located in the Skaftafell preservation area that is part of Vatnajökull National Park. Access is via a 20-foot entrance at the water's edge, though height clearance tapers down to only about 4 feet at the far end, about 150 feet in. It is only possible to access it when the lagoon is frozen. The blue Ice isn't always visible when layers of snow and frost build up on the glacier's surface. It takes a good rain to wash it away and buff to glistening splendor the brilliant hues of indigo and aquamarine. Ice caves are in general unstable things and can collapse at any time. They are however much more stable in winter when the cold temperatures harden the ice. Cracking sounds can be heard pretty constantly inside the cave. The sound is from the glacier moving along the valley. Each time the glacier moved a millimeter loud sounds could be heard.
