See Cuddeback Lake Tri-bar Targets, California
Cuddeback Lake Tri-bar Targets are aerial photo calibration targets in California. These may be the only ones on public land. The pattern painted on the targets is sets of parallel and perpendicular bars duplicated at 15 or so different sizes, and, sometimes, a large white squre.
Cuddeback Dry Lake Bed has a series of three resolution targets used in the testing of aircraft-based aerial surveillance platforms (think SR-71).
Each approximately the size of a basketball court.
