"Echoes" is an interactive, 55-foot steel whale sculpture by artist Mathias Gmachl located on the San Francisco Embarcadero that is on display from November 6, 2025, to November 6, 2026. The installation, also known as "Echoes – A Voice from Unchartered Waters," symbolizes the environment and uses sound to encourage environmental awareness; it emits a sound when viewers get too close, representing harmful human impact.
