The song of the Sirens
by Lily Perkins
We are the daughters of Gaia ...
We have emerged from the ocean depths
We have left our deep and silent Universe
Going up and down between the foam and waves to talk to the men on earth
For centuries we have sang ... and we have not been heard
For centuries our song made of wind and sea ... has drowned
in the foam...
For centuries our songs has traveled with the seagulls and
albatross's tireless flight ... and was not taken care of...
Finally ... as time is running out ... we have surfaced
To talk to the men on earth ...
Water is the source of all life ... to preserve it, is to preserve life
itself ... but anything that gets thrown to the sea stays there for ...
1 YEAR rope, photos, milk cardboard boxes...
13 YEARS painted wood boards, cartons...
50 YEARS tin cans and polystyrene ...
80 YEARS plastic containers ...
200 YEARS aluminum, batteries and mercury
400-500 YEARS disposable diapers and plastic objects
600 YEARS wire, fishing nets and hooks...
