See Fremont Troll, Seattle, Washington
In his lair under the Aurora Bridge at "The Center of the Universe" (otherwise known as the off-center, Fremont District), this 18-foot high troll sits clutching an actual VW bug. In an attempt to create a better space under the Aurora Bridge, the Freemont Arts Council created a contest. Artists Steve Badanes, Donna Walter, Ross Whitehead, and Will Martin were selected to create the Troll. Taking a total of 7 weeks to complete, the troll is contructed from rebar steel, wire, and 2 tons of ferroconcrete.
