"Giant's Coffin" is a large breakdown block in Main Cave, a giant canyon passage and the main trunk in Mammoth Cave Ridge. Stratigraphically, this is from the upper Ste. Genevieve Limestone (upper Middle Mississippian). Behind Giant's Coffin is Dante's Gateway, a passage that leads down to deeper levels (Level C and D). This section of cave is frequently visited during modern cave tours (e.g., Historic Tour, River Styx Tour, Violet City Tour, Star Chamber Tour).
