See Bab Dar Lmakhzen, Morocco

The royal palace gates of Fes. The Idrisid dynasty took two attempts to start the city of Fez as their new Islamic capital. Alamoravid and Almohad took it to Marrakesh for 200 years, then back to Fes with the Marinid. It was this last lot that built the palace, away from the bustle of the medina. The centre and largest door was the original before the other six added. The guide also had an anecdote that it is called the “Friday” door since the king/sultan would use it on a Friday.
