Hard Luck Mine Castle, Nevada
View Original Description
It all started many years ago when Randy and his son where driving their VW buggy through an evening desert snowstorm. Looking for somehwere dry to camp for the night, they serendipitously pulled out of the fog alongside the Hard Luck Mine cabin. Long story short, Randy ended up purchasing the cabin and has maintained the cabin and mine for all these years while building his dream "home" – The Hard Luck Castle. Randy started building in 2000, and now nearly completed, he is offering tours and cabin lodgings to the curious and adventurous.
The castle lies 35 miles south of Goldfield, Nevada, near State Route 267 and Scottys Junction on Hwy 95 (17 miles from the junction). The road is usually kept open and is usually travelable by most vehicles, except maybe the lowest of cars. Call ahead for tour times and, more importantly, road conditions.
