The Algarrobico beach is a Spanish beach located 4 km north of Carboneras, to whose municipal area it belongs, which is accessed by the N-341 road in the direction of Mojácar.
It is located in the Cabo de Gata-Níjar natural park. It became famous when the popularly known as "Hotel El Algarrobico " was built since 2003 by the developer Azata del Sol, which provoked strong opposition and mobilization due to its illegality due to non-compliance with the Coastal Law. The case had a great media impact and due to its size it has been used by the media as a symbol of the poor conservation of the Spanish coast.
