View Original Description
airaouine Mosque. It was founded by refugees from Kairaouine in Tunisia in the 10th century, and is now so much part of the city that its shape cannot be distinguished, so many buildings have been built onto its walls. The mosque building itself is also a significant complex of historical Moroccan and Islamic architecture that features elements from many different periods of Moroccan history.
You can't enter the mosques as a non-Muslim.Admire their magnificent exteriors and courtyards, dress modestly (shoulders/knees covered) if you're near prayer times, and observe respectfully from a distance.
