View Original Description
Kannesteinen (pitcher stone) is a special stone-shaped stone located on the shore in the village of Oppedal on the west side of Vågsøy in Vestland county.
The pitcher has been shaped by the sea and waves for thousands of years. The process is often referred to as Marine abrasion . The stone is about 3 meters high. The pitcher stone is a sight that attracts many tourists, especially in the summer.
The stone is shaped by waves, ice and rocks, and ground with the movements of water. For this reason, the stone is not as spectacular from the side.
In recent years, it has been arranged for better access for spectators, a gravel path leads to a wooden cladding that gives a good angle to the phenomenon. The path and terrace have a wheelchair- friendly design.
