Los Angeles Aqueduct Owens Dry Lake Pump Station, California
View Original Description
The largest environmental impact created by the L.A. Aqueduct was the emptying of Owens Lake, creating the Owens Dry Lake. The high desert winds have kicked up the dust from the heart-shaped lake bed to create one of the worst air-polluted locations in the entire United States. The LADWP was forced to implement dust mitigation measures in the form of limited flooding, irrigationand other methods. The pump station is used to bring water to the dry lake.
The pump stattion is located just west of route 395 at the northern end of Ownens Dry Lake.
