See Maunsell Fort Ruins (Cliffe Fort), England

Hollow concrete base section. The base would have provided for flotation during construction and transport, and once flooded would have ensured a secure foundation on the sand bank. Following severe storm damage in 1953 and a subsequent marine accident, the sea fort at Nore was demolished. Any scrap of value was sold for salvage, and the remains were towed to Cliffe where they have lain since.
