Tulum, Mexico
View Original Description
The 3rd most visited archeological site in all of Mexico is found in Tulum. Located in the Mexican State of Quintana Roo along the coast, the walled city perches on a bluff overlooking the Caribbean and is easily accessible from Cancun by car or cab via a modern 4 lane highway. One of the most beautiful archeological zones in all of Mexico may be found in Tulum. The Mayan people’s history is reflected in the ruins of structures erected during the 13th to 15th centuries. Also accessible from Tulum are the Coba ruins which provide for naturally canopied walkways courtesy of the dense jungle as you move from site to site.
Tulum Beach displays white sands against the crystal clear blue Caribbean water with every aquatic sport one can think of available, including scuba diving and wind surfing. Close by is the extraordinary water park, Xel-Ha Park, an interactive aquarium that allows observation of sea life in its natural habitat and opportunities for swimming and snorkeling with the park’s resident dolphins and other sea creatures. The Mayan themed amusement park, Xcaret Mexico is also a short hop from Tulum.
Dreamers that are visiting Cancun or Playa del Carmen will want to include exploration of the city of Tulum and its nearby neighbors on their list.
