See Monument to Orange, Odesa, Ukraine

The Monument to Orange was built in honor of the 210th anniversary of Odessa that is a memorial to 4,000 fateful oranges. The legend is that in 18th-century, Odessa wanted money to build their port. But the new tzar Paul I took power in 1796, and diverted the badly-needed port money elsewhere. When the city’s residents found out about it, they sent him carts with 4,000 oranges (the emperor’s favorite fruits). After such an original gift, Paul I contributed the money for the building of the port.
