Hike to Reflection Canyon, Grand Escalante Staircase National Monument, Utah

Located in Grand Escalante Staircase National Monument, Reflection Canyon is an extension of Lake Powell. It is usually seen by boat and plane, but there is a challenging 20-mile round-trip hike through the Glen Canyon to see the view into the canyon. Going by boat sounds easy, but to get to the top for this view is extremely difficult. The hike requires a 49-mile drive down Hole in the Rock Road to almost the end of the road. Make sure to check weather and road conditions before getting on the road since storms can wash out portions of the road and make sections impassible due to the mud. The canyon is southeast from the trailhead, but due to canyons and ravines, hikers will start out heading southwest. For most of the hike keep close to the cliffs that are on the right (facing south). Get too far from the cliffs and hikers en up going down one of the many different slot canyons. At about 5 miles there will be a flat, squared-off face in the cliffs. At this point head southeast and keep the cliffs to your back. It's about another 2 miles to the canyon. The hike can be done in one day, but consider stayinging overnight to wake up with a unreal sunrise view. The best time to go is March and April when the water level is lowest.
