See Sammy The Sea Lion & Tanker Jetty Ruins, Esperance, Western Australia

The sculpture of Sammy The Sea Lion is 50 metres away from the spot beside the Tanker Jetty where Sammy The Sea Lion waits for fishermen to clean their catch and throw the fish-guts etc into the water, where Sammy is the main beneficiary. The construction of the Tanker Jetty in 1935 during the Great Depression brought much-needed work to the area. It remained Esperance's major commercial jetty for 30 years, operating until 1977. A section of the jetty collapsed in September 2017. In the background, Cape La Grand with the prominent Frenchman's Peak is clearly visible.
