Skała Krukowskiego (Krukowski Rock), Ojców National Park, Poland
View Original Description
Skala Krukowski is a rock built of limestone on the left slope of the Prądnik Valley in the Ojcowski National Park . It is one of the rocks in the Crown Rocks group located opposite the Krakowska Gate . Together with the nearby rock , Słupek , they are the westernmost rocks in this group of rocks. It was named in 1990 to honor prof. Stefan Krukowski , on the 100th anniversary of his birth.
Skala Krukowski and Słupki are located just above the bottom of the Prądnik valley and there is a characteristic wooden OPN pavilion in the form of an entrance gate with a roof. Next to it, there is a path of the tourist trail, which leads to the flattening of the Krukowski Rock. It is a Pliocene remnant of the former terrace of the Prądnik River . The rocks of Brama Krakowska and other rocks located on the opposite slope of the Prądnik Valley have a similar height, as well as the Panińskie Rocks located on the same, left slope. From the vantage point over Skała Krukowska, you can clearly see the Prądnik Valley and the asymmetry of its slopes (the opposite ones are much gentler than those on which Skała Krukowski is located).
