The "Tora shipwreck" refers to the SS Opua, which was wrecked at Tora Inlet, New Zealand, on October 2, 1926. The steamer was traveling from Gisborne to Wellington when it ran aground. The rusted remains of the ship are still visible and have become a landmark on the rugged Wairarapa coast, often included as a point of interest on the Tora Coastal Walk.
