View Original Description
Stągiewna Gate is a historic city gate on the Granary Island in Gdańsk.
Built at the beginning of the 16th century, the defensive towers called Mleczna Stągwiami because of their shape are the remains of city fortifications. At the beginning of the 17th century, the gate was rebuilt. During the siege in 1813, part of the gate was destroyed. In 1945, the interior burned down and the roofs collapsed.
From 1972, the gate was used by the Creative Work Cooperative of Polish Artists ARPO , which in the 90s bought the object. In 2012, the gate was sold. The building covers an area of 400 m².
