Hike to
Taranaki Falls, Tongariro National Park, New Zealand
View Original Description
The beautiful New Zealand waterfall Taranaki Falls is located in Tongariro National Park on the North Island. The 20 metre waterfall tumbles over a 15,000 year old lava flow. Below the falls see interesting river formations within the gorge of the Wairere Stream.
From the waterfall there are views to Mr Ruapehu, Mt Ngauruhoe and Mt Tongariro, and amazing walk through the beech forest.
Take a swim in the crystal clear pool if you dare!
To get to the falls take an easy drive takes roughly 20 min from Whakapapa Village.
From the village take the Taranaki Falls Walk for a nice 2 hour loop walk.
