See Þingeyraklausturskirkja, Sault Ste. Marie, Iceland

Þingeyrar is a farm in Húnaþing between the lakes Hóps and Húnavatn. The church in Þingeyrar was dedicated to Saint Nicholas in the Catholic tradition. The vicarage of Þingeyraprestakall was not there, but in Steinnes, until it was moved to Blönduós in 1970 . The current church was built in the years 1864- 1877 and is considered very significant, loaded with stones glued together with lime, but since no stone can be found in the land of Þingeyri, all the loading stone was picked up over Hópið on sledges in winter. The church dome is arched, painted blue with golden stars that are said to number 1000. There are many ancient and significant artefacts in the church and there are also various artefacts from it at the National Museum.
