See Zebra Schist (Zebra Rock), Harveys Return, Kangaroo Island, South Australia

Harvey's Return Zebra rocks on Kangaroo Island. The tightly folded, thinly bedded schists, derived from turbidites, exposed here are known as zebra schists. A quartz-rich and biotite-rich layering largely reflect original sedimentary layering rather than metamorphic differentiation as a variety of sedimentary structures are preserved within and outlined by secondary biotite. Small trough cross-beds and climbing ripples indicate a south facing turbidite sequence. This section of coastline has been designated as a geological monument by the Geological Society of Australia.
