Shop & Dine at City Market (Savannah), Georgia

Four block open-air market since the 1700s with shopping, dining & artworks in restored warehouses. City Market is a mixed-use project in the nation's largest Historic District. The rehabilitation of the four-block area began in 1985. The result is a physical facility that economically could not be replicated today. Since the early 1700's, City Market has been the commercial and social center of historic Savannah. Located on the original site of the market used by farmers and traders of all kinds to sell their goods and wares, City Market comprises a four-block area of restored warehouses and shop fronts adjacent to Ellis Square. City Market has established itself as a destination for entertainment, dining, art and retail in Savannah. To create an anchor attraction that would attract both travelers and Savannah residents, the developer emulated its successful Torpedo Factory project in Alexandria (VA) and established the Art Center at City Market. This group of working artists' studios occupies approximately 19,000 square feet of space and enhances the environment where other tenants of City Market establish and operate successful food, entertainment, and retail businesses. In addition, City Market has three apartments and approximately 11,000 square feet of office space.
