Piano Provenzana, Mount Etna, Sicily, Italy
View Original Description
Piano Provenzana is a ski resort located in the northern slope of Etna, also called Etna Nord, at an altitude of 1,810 meters above sea level in the municipality of Linguaglossa.
Contrary to the ski resort located on the southern slope of Etna (Etna Sud), centered around the Rifugio Sapienza and dominated by a landscape almost free from vegetation and dominated by lava rock (separated from the immense Bove valley), the Piano Provenzana station of Linguaglossa is immersed in a large pine forest and has the appearance of an alpine landscape with the addition of the vision of the Ionian sea to the east and the Strait of Messina to the north.
The ski resort is serviced by 4 lifts, 3 lifts 1 chair lift quad, all of the modern generation.
