Located 90 minutes outside of Santiago, Valle Nevado Resort is the largest winter resort in the Southern hemisphere and is on par with many top resorts north of the equator. It has 11 lifts serve 34 treelesstrails, and the vertical drop from its 12,000-foot summit is slightly more than 2,600 feet. It sits in a valley with peaks that are 18,000 feet (6,000 meters) high. Valle Nevado is mainlysetup as an intermediate resort with lots of wide-open groomed runs. The resort does have mellow slopes for beginners and off-piste areas for advanced riders. The resort gets an average of 275 inches (7 meters) of snowfall annually.
