Ski or Snowboard Big Sky Resort, Montana

Big Sky Resort is a ski resort located in southwestern Montana that is known for it uncrowded slopes. The resorts 17 lifts, 150 trails are spread across more than 3,600 acres, 2,088 acres of which are for expert or advanced skiers. There is great skiing and boarding, in particular for more advanced skiers. A natural half-pipe and a park have been set aside for freestyle skiers and snowboarders. Trademarked as the "Biggest Skiing in America" through the Biggest Skiing in America Pass, skiers and riders have access to over 5,000 acres (20 km2). The Biggest Skiing in America Pass combines the two resorts making Moonlight Basin accessible from the Lone Peak Summit and via the Challenger Lift. Big Sky Resort also offers meeting space for conferences, weddings and corporate retreats. Other offerings include golf, zipline, frisbee golf, scenic lift rides, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, and tennis. This is a big mountain with lots of area to explore. Rocks are not marked very well, so use caution when off the groomers. There are also several good terrain parks for shred-heads and freestylers. Best runs: Cruisers - Calamity Jane, Elk Park Ridge, and Big Horn Moguls - Crazy Raven, Mad Wolf, Moonlight, and Bad Dog Glades - Wounded Knee, Congo, and Blackfoot Steeps - Anything off the Tram, War Dance, Big Rock Tongue, and Snake Pit Annual Snowfall: 400 inches The village has plenty of shops, restaurants and bars for après-ski. The resort is an hour south of Bozeman via U.S. Highway 191.
