Ski or Snowboard Gstaad, Switzerland

The chalet village of Gstaad is situated in the Western part of the Bernese Oberland in the German-speaking section of southwestern Switzerland. Gstaad is home to one of the largest ski areas in the Alps (220 km of slopes). The funiculars and chairlifts around Gstaad services the slopes of at least six other resorts scattered over four valleys. An all-inclusive ski pass--known locally as a "Ski Gstaad Pass" ($24 per day) gives access to 70 chairlifts and gondolas with over 155 miles (250km) of downhill slopes. Gstaad is also known for its ski and cross-country slopes and winter hiking trails with With 74 miles of cross-country skiing trails. Gstaad is reputed for its famous luxury hotels among them the Gstaad Palace, the Grand Hotel Bellevue, the Hotel Arc-en-ciel, the Hotel Olden, and the Posthotel Rössli.
