Estancia Ranquilco Cattle Ranch, Argentina
View Original Description
Estancia Ranquilco is a remote family-owned 100,000 acre horse and cattle ranch nestled in the foothills of the Andes. It is a vast expanse of land in Patagonia, stretching across leagues of high steppes, river valleys, grazing meadows, and jagged cliffs, into the very heart of the Argentine cordillera. Ranquilco’s western boundary is the border with Chile – the high country — graced with lakes, waterfalls, condors, hot springs, and weeks of wandering.
Estancia Ranquilco operates as a working ranch with one thousand head of cattle, forty horses, and a small herd of merino/ corriedale sheep and goats.
Hailing from Colorado and California, Ashley and his daughter Sky Carrithers now live in Argentina, splitting their time between Ranquilco and the winter grazing grounds, Estancia Colipilli. In addition to learning the cattle business from the ground up, Sky cares for our herd of beautiful criollo horses.
