On a 100-acre estate off Highway 101, this serene resort is 8 miles from the Madonna Inn and 5 miles from Dinosaur Caves Park. In 1886, prospectors drilling for oil in Avila Beach found sulfur mineral water instead, which led to the development of Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort in 1897. The hotel has 72 hotel rooms and suites, each with a hot tub on its balcony or patio. The resort also has 24 private outdoor tubs, which are arrayed on a hillside, surrounded by an oak grove. These are charges on an per hour per person basis. Rooms feature private hot tubs and balconies, plus free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. Luxe suites add separate living areas, and some have 4-poster beds. A 3-bedroom guesthouse with a living room, a kitchen and an outdoor veranda is also available.Parking is free, and the property features a spa and a restaurant with seasonal fare. Naturally heated mineral baths include 23 outdoor hot tubs and a lagoon, and yoga and pilates classes are available.
