Stay at Thoreau’s Cabin, Animas Forks, Colorado
Off the grid, remote, sturdy and beautifully finished. Suspension bridge access, trails, Uncompahgre Wilderness. Waterfalls, wildlife, spectacular views.
Everywhere you look, seams are tight, doors close with a 'thunk' windows seal cleanly. The absence of wifi or cell service is a FEATURE of this place. Silverton is 20 miles away and Lake City is 15 away. Graded roads are rough, but negotiable. Clearance a plus, as is 4wd.Easiest path is through Lake City.
