Access to Pottuvil is primarily by bus or train from Colombo, the largest city in Sri Lanka and the site of the International Airport approximately 320 km from Pottuvil. Seaplanes from Ampara Airport, which is accessible by air from Colombo, can provide more expedient connections. Ample accommodations are readily available in Pottuvil and on Arugam Bay.
