Cribbar (Widow Maker), England
View Original Description
The Cribbar (aka Widow Maker) is a reef and a rarely seen surf break off the Towan Headland in Newquay, England and about 1/2 mile offshore from Towan Head.
The Cribbar is best known for creating annual big waves which makes it popular with experienced big wave surfers from across the world. Wave faces can be in excess of 30 ft (9.1 m). However the breakneeds to be perfectly clean and double overhead before it will break clear of the rocks.
The Zorba is a reef 2 miles (3.2 km) further off the coast and can create even higher waves.
