View Original Description
Desert Point, also known as Bankgo-Bangko, on the Indonesian island of Lombok sports one of the longest barreling left-hand breaks in the world. The exposed reef break is very reliable and attracts an international crowd. The hollow waves can stretch as long as 300 meters with heights typically in the 1 to 3 meter range. The caverns get larger and faster as the inside section commits the tube rider to a lock-in that can last from 10 to 20 seconds.
Desert Point is a 3 hour drive from Kuta, Lombok, Indonesia with a wide range of accommodations and support services located in Kuta and elsewhere on Lombok island. Surf charters are also common to the area originating in Bali with a nearby ferry dock at Lembar, a popular place for surfers to arrive. Denpasar International Airport in Kuta is also popular among visitors to the region. Accommodations available in Desert Point take the form of bungalows and surf shacks.
