Surf Cloudbreak or Restaurants, Tavarua Island, Fiji

Tavarua Island in Fiji is a privately owned surf resort with some world famous surf breaks nearby: Cloudbreak, Restaurants and Tavarua Rights. Cloudbreak has the greatest reputation with what is referred to as an “almost” perfect left, very rippable with 3 distinct sections. The wave is accessible by boat only and sometimes requires a tow-in during heavy conditions. Cloudbreak is the location for a pro surfing competition every year when the top 44 surfers in the world compete on the pristine breakers. Tavarua Rights is an onshore that is very rideable. Restaurants is a fast barreling left hand reef break. The Fijian government opened up the waves off Tavarua Island to the public in July, 2010 with a number of operators on the main island of Viti Levu offering excursions in addition to the access available from the private island. Those travelers wishing to stay on Tavarua Island would fly into Nadi, Fiji (on Viti Levu Island) then take a boat to Tavarua Island. Accommodations and support services are readily found in Nadi as well as the resort on Tavaru Island. Surf schools operate at the resort on Tavarua Island as well as from a number of waterfront locations near Nadi. Start considering how to make that dream of surfing in the idyllic South Pacific islands of Fiji a reality. Add a trip to Tavarua Island to surf the epic waves to your list today and start planning the best way to make sure this fantasy is fulfilled.
