Swim at Kilauea Stone Dam, Kauai, Hawaii

Note: The old trail to the dam is closed there is another trail from the dog park The Kilauea Stone Dam, built in 1880, is the crown jewel of the Wai Koa Loop Trail. The dam was originally used as a water source for sugar cane production and has gone through several owners. The dam is within Wai Koa Plantation, a 500-acre mahogany wood forest (the largest in the United States), funded and created by Bill and Joan Porter. The Porter’s opened the “Wai Koa Loop Trail” in 2010. This 5-mile hike goes throughout the plantation and ultimately ends up at the iconic Stone Dam. This hidden swimming hole is absolutely must find when on the island.
