Swim in Poço Azul (Blue Pool), Chapada Diamantina, Brazil

Swim in Poço Azul (Blue Pool or Blue Pit) where the water is so transparent that it makes it like your are floating in space. A prospector discovered the Blue Pit in 1920 when looking for diamonds in the region. The Pit has become one of the most popular attractions of the Chapada. The best time to enter the pool is between 1 pm and 3 pm, when the sun's rays radiate blue waters, forming a spectacle of rare beauty. All visitors must take a shower to clean the body from fats that can cause envioronemt impact. During the high season there is a line to get into the water (sometime for a few hours) and then you only get to go in for 10-15 minutes. The pool is located in Nova Redemption, Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, Brazil, just east of Chapada Diamantina National Park. It's a little complicated to get tot he pool so maybe consider hiring a guide or go with one of the organised trips from Lençois. There is a 200 metres walk to reach the Blue Pool area and then go down 60m inside the cave to see the pool. There´s restaurant in at the pools and ability to rent lifejacket, mask and snorkel.
