Visit Wallace District Mining Museum, Wallace, Idaho

The Wallace District Mining Museum documents and recounts the legacy of over a century of mining history in the region. Mine tours are offered in the Sierra Silver Mine in Wallace and the Crystal Gold Mine in nearby Kellogg. Built circa 1920 and renovated to its present appearance in the 1930s or 1940s, this Art Deco-style building houses the Wallace District Mining Museum, which interprets and preserves the mining history of the surrounding region. The building features a stucco and painted brick exterior with a tapered Art Deco facade and parapet at one end of the building, flanking a blade sign, and a modified large bay at the other end of the facade. The building is a contributing structure in the Wallace Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, and expanded to its present size in 1983.
