The Sinai Trail winds for 550 KM (340 miles) over Egypt's mountains and valleys. It opened in 2015 as a 220 km trail connecting the Gulf of Aqaba with the high mountains of St Katherine. By 2018 it was extended into a 550km trail taking 48-50 days to complete. The Sinai Trail was developed by Bedouin tribes as a community tourism initiative and it remains locally owned and managed today. The main sections are: Ras Shetan to Ein Kidd: 190-220 kilometers long and takes about 12 days to complete. Ein Kidd to St. Katherine: 140 kilometers and takes about 12 days to complete. St. Katherine to Serabit el Khadem: 150 kilometers long and takesabout 14 days to complete. The best time to hike the Sinai Trail is between October and April, when the weather is mild and the days are cool.
